We tested every IPTV player on Android. Then we built Streamblix.

Full disclosure before anything else: we make Streamblix, so we are not a neutral reviewer. This is the story of why we built it, and what we learned trying the field first. Take it as a maker's opinion, not a scorecard.

We came to IPTV as users. We had our own playlists and we just wanted something pleasant to watch them in. So we did the obvious thing and installed player after player from the Play Store, free and paid, and lived with them for a while. What we found is why Streamblix exists.

What kept letting us down

A few problems showed up again and again, across very different apps.

• Ads in the middle of playback. The free tier of many players interrupts the thing you came to watch, or wraps the screen in banners. Nothing sours live TV faster than a full-screen advert before your channel loads.
• Account walls for a file you already have. Some players make you register before you can play a playlist that lives on your own device. That is a strange ask for a media player.
• Dead ends when a source breaks. Streams go offline and links expire, that is normal for IPTV. But most players just show you a spinner or a blank grid and leave you tapping channels one by one, guessing what is wrong.
• Patchy program guides. A guide is only useful if it loads fast and stays complete. Too often the schedule was half empty because the app could not match guide data to channels whose names did not line up.
• Clutter. Menus stacked on menus, settings nobody needs, and a home screen that felt like work.

None of these are hard problems on their own. Added up, they made watching television feel like a chore.

What we decided to fix

We did not set out to build the biggest IPTV player. We set out to build one that respects the two things that matter most: your attention and your time.

• No ads in playback. You press play, it plays. This was non-negotiable.
• Playlist Doctor. Instead of leaving you to guess, Streamblix scans your source and tells you plainly what is reachable, which channels are dead, and where the failure sits. Our guide on diagnosing a broken playlist shows it in action.
• A guide that fills itself in. Streamblix smart-matches your EPG to your channels even when the names differ, and keeps it in sync, so the grid stays populated without you tending it.
• Your playlists stay yours. No account to begin, and the playlists and credentials you add stay on your device. We built the studio around not running advertising profiles, so there is nothing to sell.
• The extras that earn their place. Background and picture-in-picture playback, catch-up where your source supports it, a radio mode for audio-only listening, and reminders for programs starting later.

Every one of those came directly from an evening lost to a player that did not have it.

We are not the only good option

Honesty cuts both ways. IPTV players are a crowded field, and different people want different things. Some want deep customisation, some want a specific TV layout, some just want the cheapest thing that works. What we can say is what we built, and why. Streamblix is the player we wanted to exist when we started, and it did not, so we made it.
